Wild Hearts Equine Therapeutic Center, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that cultivates powerful connections between people and horses. Blending world-recognized equine-assisted therapies with its own innovative approaches, Wild Hearts helps people with physical, intellectual and emotional challenges, including at-risk teens, veterans, victims of abuse and many others who are recovering from traumatic experiences. Our programs are rooted in softness and based on the principles of Trust-Based Relational Intervention®, while following safety standards set by PATH, International.
Located in beautiful Oconee County in Upstate South Carolina, our mission is to provide a safe and compassionate environment that fosters physical, emotional and behavioral growth utilizing programs that enrich the quality of life for people of all ages. Why Horses?
There is widespread recognition within the medical and educational communities and a wealth of research studies from around the globe that confirm the benefits of equine-assisted programs. Being open and listening to the horse activates life-changing bonds of trust and helps forge better relationships. Results from equine-assisted learning and therapy programs are tangible; sometimes results come from simply being in the presence of a horse’s unconditional acceptance and innate sensitivity.

Wild Hearts is unique in that we choose to utilize the services of rescued and rehabilitated horses who need a job. Our rescued horses help to rescue the people in our programs. The kids, adults and veterans help our horses by giving them a job and, sometimes, by providing them with the opportunity to be adopted to their forever home.
